Top 5 Christmas Films

Here’s my list of 5 Christmas films that I love to snuggle up & watch with my family, don’t forget to get some snacks ready & a glass or bottle of your favourite tipple:

Elf

If you’ve not warmed to Buddy the elf then you’ve got a very cold heart indeed! It’s a great film for all ages to enjoy together as Buddy goes in search of his real father.

Home Alone 1 & 2

Ok, I’m cheating a bit here, but the two films come as a pair in my mind. Macauley Culkin is adorable as Kevin and you’ve got to feel for his mother as she struggles to get  back from Paris in the 1st film. The second film is a big fat advertisement for going to New York for Christmas…one day I will go!

A Christmas Carol (1999 film)

There’s been so many versions of Charles Dickens classic tale that I’m sure we’ve all got our favourite, this one is mine, yours might be the Muppets version. For those of you who don’t know, this is the one with Patrick Stewart playing Ebenezer Scrooge, it’s a lot darker than some versions but truer to Dickens’ original work.

Miracle on 34th Street (1994 film)

This is my husband’s favourite family Christmas film so I had to include it on the list just for him, we haven’t watched it yet this year but will be snuggling up soon. It stars Richard Attenborough as Kris Kringle and the adorable Mara Wilson (Matilda) as the little girl who helps prove in court that Santa is real.

The Christmas Chronicles

A new Netflix film, with Kurt Russell staring as Father Christmas (he’s got a proper twinkle in his eye) this film is lovely, the elves are adorable and no doubt will be a Christmas classic for many years to come.

Just to add, this was a hard list to compile, I missed out Polar Express, Bad Santa, Deck the Halls & Die Hard too, I should have done a top 10!
